Over 200 hundred diocesan vocation directors and their personell have begun to gather in Long Island NY this weekend for this coming week's convention. New vocation Directors from across the United States, regional directors from different areas of the country and the NCDVD board members all have pre-convention meetings Saturday, Sunday and Monday before the official convention convenes on Monday evening with the opening Mass. Please keep Father Greg Galvin, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Norwich and all the vocation directors and personell attending in your prayers. Watch for updates on Father Greg's blog here on the website regarding the activities and speakers during the week. Saint John Vianney, pray for us.
Again this past June 19, 2014 the Diocesan Seminary program was the furtunate recipient of interest income from three different endowment funds, the Mary E. Curtin and Rev. J. Clifford Curtin endowment Fund, The Father Robert taladge Endowment Fund and The Mabel enos English Endowment Fund. We are very grateful for the establishment of each of these funds as instruments which annually help provide very necessary funding for the education of our future priests. This past June we received a total from the three funds together of $30,199.98.
If you or someone you know would like to assist in the future education of our seminarians by a finacial gift, please consider donating directly into any one or all three of these particular endowments. You may not know the particular seminarian(s) assisted by such a gift but the gift will be an instrument of continueing to provide priestly sheppards for the Diocese' future. Please continue to keep our seminarians in your prayers and all those discerning a priestly or religious vocation.
With great joy on Saturday July 26, 2014 Bishop Michael Cote Ordained Father Martin Noe and Father Jonathan Ficara as priests of Jesus Christ for service in the Diocese of Norwich. In front of a congregation of nearly 1000 people from around the diocese, after six years of formation and study, Father Jonathan and Father Martin received the sacrament of Holy Orders and became the two newest priests of Norwich. See more regarding the Ordination below in the home page article which is also accessible in the August issue of the Four County Catholic.
