Prepare for the Lenten SeasonPublished by ggalvin on March 3, 2014 - 11:07am
We are two days away from the beginning of the Lenten Season. Are you ready? If not, recall the words at the end of Sunday's Gospel from Matthew, "seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness... do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil." Then from this morning's Gospel, we here the story of the rich young man who approached Jesus and asked,"what must I do to inherit eternal life?". Then following that up by telling Jesus he has followed the commandments throughout his life, Jesus responds, having looked at him with love and saying; "You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
As we enter into the Lenten Season this week, we each should take some personal prayer time to consider "what we are lacking" in our relationship with Christ, and let our efforts combined with cooperation with the Grace of God we receive through reconciliation and the Eucharist, assist us in making the changes we need to make so that we each can both, Seek First the Kingdom of God in our daily lives and not end up "walking away sad" from Christ becuase we are to attached to things of this world.
Have a very prayerful Lenten Season and may imbracing the Will of God in your life bring you much greater happiness and peace on a daily basis!
