Parish FinancesPublished by jellis on August 5, 2014 - 2:04pm
Peter and I just got back from a four-day conference at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore (where Juan Aguerre will be studying in a few weeks) looking at Parish Finances. I don't come from a financial background, but I found this conference to be at a great level for me. Most priests need to be a "jack-of-all-trades," and this class was structured to give seminarians and new priests a "Parish Finances 101" experience. We had some great speakers and I felt pretty comfortable with the material. I took lots of notes, so that in a few years when I need to know this information, I can return to my "One Note" notebook and remind myself of all I have learned!
After the conference, I got to "bum around" the Washington DC area for a few days. Before entering the seminary, I lived in the Metro DC area for 8 years, so it was a great opportunity to catch up with my old friends from the area. A nice little mini-vacation for me! However, after six weeks in Guatemala, a couple of weeks at home, this conference, hanging out in DC, and back home now, I am ready to go back to the seminary! Not that I *really* want to begin classes, but I am ready for a little more "regularity" in my schedule, I think! So I'm raring and ready to go!
